Beer Tasting Paddle 4 x 150ml ($18)
A tasting paddle is the perfect way to start your beer journey at Tar Bar. You can pick from any four (4) of our tap beers – core or specialty. And the best thing is that your favourite beer is available in a pot (285ml), schooner (425ml) or pint (570ml) for you to enjoy once you have finished the paddle.
Australian Whiskey Tasting Stave* 3 x 15ml ($20)
We have carefully sourced a limited range of Australian Whiskey’s for you to choose from. The styles vary from Rye Whiskey’s (51%+ Rye grain) to numerous different grain bills including Rye, Corn, Wheat and Barley.
Single-Malt Whisky Tastings Stave* 3x15ml ($20 standard or $25 premium)
There are two (2) options for you – the standard or the premium tasting. The premium is ideal for those more seasoned whiskey drinkers. The whiskey comes from Mornington Peninsula’s only single-malt distillery Chiefs Son – based in Somerville.
Gin Tasting Stave* 3x15ml ($20)
The beauty of the gin tasting paddle is that you get to choose three (3) of our local gins, pick your mixer (tonic, soda or perhaps a flavour?) and select the garnishes then combine to make up your own taste sensations
Committed to local all our wine is sourced from the Mornington Peninsula region You can select from the Crittenden Estate Wine range or other Wineries from the area.
Our famous wood-fired pizzas will compliment whichever beverage you chose.

Have you ever wondered how beer is made? Surely there is more to it than malt, hops, yeast and water? The short answer is no but it is the choice of malt, hops and yeast that defines the beer style and the finished product.
If you are interested to learn more why not come on a BEER EXPERIENCE with us. On this experience you will get a behind the scenes look at both the ingredients that go into each of our core beers (Pale, Brown, Lager and XPA) and the process of making the beer – from milling the grain to packaging the final product. Of course, being an experience you will get to sample each of the core beers and perhaps try something new straight from the tank!
Our BEER EXPERIENCE is $50 and runs for approximately 1hr with the maximum group size of 12.
We are very excited about our new piece of equipment – an Australian-made 1200 litre distillery – the shiny cooper thing in the corner.
While we are not experts (a long way from it!), we are focusing on producing a Four Grain Australian Whiskey (yes, spelt with an ‘e’) and Gin. Unfortunately, the Whiskey will need to mature in barrels for at least 2 years, but the good news is our Gin is not far away – we are just finalising the recipe and looking to use some local botanicals.
Our DISTILLERY EXPEREINECE will take you on a journey from grain to glass – learning about the distillation process and the difference between the spirits. Along the experience you will try the Whiskey NEW MAKE, which is the white spirit before it goes into barrel, and at the end choose from three different tastings staves* – either Whiskey, Whisky or Gin – 3 x 15ml.

* A STAVE is a narrow length of wood with a slightly bevelled edge to form the sides of barrels. If you look carefully you can see the charring on the underneath of the stave and see how far the liquid has penetrated the wood.
